What Is Graduation?

Graduation is an end,
But also a beginning...
The start of all the dreams
That every graduate is spinning.
Graduation is sighs and laughter
Mingled liberally with tears,
Lingering memories of one's sharing
Life with classmate through the years.
Graduation is conclusion
Of one big phase of work and fun,
A milestone passed, new things begun.
Graduation is excitement,
Speeches, farewells
And applause, diplomas
And a mortar board...
The gate to pathway unexplored.

My Creed

I would be true, for there are those who trust me;
I would be pure, for there are those who care;
I would be strong for there is much to suffer;
I would be brave for there is much to dare.
I would be a friend of all - the foe, the friendless;
I would be giving and forget the gift;
I would be humble, for I know my weakness;
I would look up - and laugh - and love - and lift.

Harold Arnold Walter

The Goal

Often the goal is nearer than
It seems to a faint and faltering man,
Often the struggler has give up
When he might have captured
the victor's cup.
And he learned too late, when
the night slipped down,
How close he was to the golden crown.
Sucess is failure turned inside out -
The silver tint of the clouds of doubt -
And you never can tell how close you are,
It may be near when it sems afar;
So stick to the fight
when you're hardest hit -
It's when things seem worst
that you musntn't quit.

George Webster Douglas

The Dreamers

We grow great by dreams. All big
men are dreamers. They se thing in
the softhaze of a spring day or in the
red fire of a long winter's evening.
Some of us let these great dreams die,
but others nourish and protect them,
nurse them through bad days till they
bring them to the sunshione and light
which come always to those who sincerely
hope that their dreams will come true.

Woodrow Wilson

My Wish

I do notwish you joy without a sorrow
Nor endless day without the healing dark,
Nor brilliant sun without the restful shadow,
Nor tides thatnever turn against you bark.
I wish you love, and strength, and faith and wisdom,
Goods gold enough to help some needy one,
I wish you songs, but also blessed silence,
And God's seet peace when every day is done.

Love And Service

Your success and happiness lie in you.
Esternal conditions are the accident of life, its outer
trappings. The great, enduring realities are love and service.
Joy is the holy fire that keeps our purpose
warm and our intelligence aglow. Work without joy shall
be as nothing. Resolve to keep happy, and your joy
you shall form an invincible host against difficulties.

Helen Keller

Destiny

I don't know what your destiny will be,
but one thing I know: the only ones among
you who will be really happy are
those who have sought and found how to serve

Dr. Albert Schweitzer

Do It Now!

If you've a got a job to do,
Do it now!
If it's one you wish were through,
Do it now!
If you're sure job's your own,
Do not hem and haw and groan -
Do it now!
Don't put off a bit of work,
Do it now!
It doesn't pay to shrink,
Do it now!
If you want to fill a place
And be useful to the race,
Just get up and take a brace -
Do it now!
Don't linger by the way,
Do it now!
You'll lose if you dealy,
Do it now!
If the other fellows wait,
Or postpone until it's late,
You hit up a faster gait -
Do it now!

Look To This Day

Look to this day!
For it is life, the very life of life.
In its brief course lie all the varities
and realities of your existince:
The bliss of growth;
The glory of actions;
The splendored of beauty;
For yesterday is already a dream,and
tommorow is only a vision;
But today, well lived, makes every yesterday
a dream of happiness, and every tommorow a
vision of hope.
Look well, therefore, to this day!
Such is the salutation of the dawn.
